Minalima - Harry Potter books

Minalima released a statement today that they will not be commissioning the remaining four Harry Potter books. They've done the first 3.

The Illustrated Harry Potter books by Jim Kay are also not being continued (he's done the first 5)

It's annoying as I've now got two unfinished collections!

I read that the minalima type ones have been handed over to another company for goblet of fire onwards. I read the same and was equally frustrated.

Oh no, I hoped that wouldn't happen. Absolutely love the Minalima ones. Seems.a bit odd given Minalima were involved in the films to remove this from them?

It's annoying with publishers release different sized books, never mind completely different designs

I'm gutted about this. I have all the Jim Kay books and all the Mina Lima ones. I am really sad that I won't be able to get the full set of either.

I did wonder if they were just stopping doing the interactive ones as they thought they might not fit with the darker themes of the later books, but now they've said they are doing them but not with Mina Lima, I'm just confused!!

There are some rumours starting to circulate that the reason for the separating of ways is because of JK Rowlings views on trans and Minalima being such huge allies.

It's just completely odd that Minalima have done all the artwork for the films and the merchandise and 3 books and have now been dropped.

The interactive parts of the books and the illustrations could easily be continued to the end of the series, except they are now going to be produced by someone completely different and all the illustrations will be different, the book covers will be different and it's obviously something I need to get over.

Don't think I will be buying them though

It was obviously going to be rumoured but given that JKR's and Mina Lima's views have been at odds for some time I'm not sure if it really holds water?

I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the new illustrated / interactive editions and I will almost certainly end up buying them but I am so gutted I won't have a full set!

I'm still annoyed at Jim Kay. Is that the trans thing too? He cited mental health I think? I'd imagine there are hundreds of budding illustrators who would have killed for that contract and he just kind of gave up.

The covers are going to be different and the insides are going to be different as they can't use any of Minalimas designs so unmatching covers makes it a no for me. Hopefully they don't start again from book 1 though!

Unless they've found they can reproduce the books cheaper using some sort of AI rather than handrawn and copies illustrations? I know people were complaining about the costs of the book.

I don't really know the full story behind that one but it's just infuriating to end a contract before a set is complete!

Then I feel annoyed at myself for getting so many versions of the books anyway! I only really need one set!
