Has anyone read these books by Freida McFadden? I picked up The Housemaids Secret in the charity shop
(second one in the series) and loving it so far. My question is should I be reading them
In order? Is that important?

Yes! Read them in order. It’s not IMPORTANT but it will make a lot more sense. Also
enjoy! I loved these books

Yes definitely read them in order, I’ve read book 1, I’ve just started on book 2, and I’ve got book 3 already for when I finish 2!

stonkytonk11 · 04/08/2024 20:07

Okay, thanks for that! I have only read a few chapters of book 2 so will park it and go for book one on the kindle 👍

Definitely read them in order. I loved the first 2, unfortunately book 3 was so tedious I couldn’t finish it.

I would say read them in order, but seeing as you’ve already started the second one, that advice may be too little too late!

I absolutely loved 1 and 2 but thought the third was a bit different and didn’t enjoy it as much. I still liked it, but it was nowhere near as good as the first two!

Portfun24 · 05/08/2024 22:07

I liked the first two but found the third one a let down.

Are they as good as the Nita Prose "Maid" books? Or completely different?

They’re completely different.

Nita Prose’s books are (imo) Eleanor Oliphant meets mystery/cosy crime.

Freida McFadden’s books are probably categorised as psychological thriller.

I too liked one and two but have heard bad things about 3.

The first ones the best IMO, enjoy OP!

I've only read the first one, and won't be reading anymore.
No idea if you need to read in order though :(

stonkytonk11 · 12/08/2024 15:35

I'm about two thirds of the way though and I'm enjoying it but I don't know. Something feels a bit far fetched/almost silly about it and I loved the style of writing at the start but part two isn't as good so far. Will definitely finish it though 🙂

I've finished it now, not sure how I feel about it. Enjoyable enough read but the ending was too holey for me and I felt like the writing wasn't as great near the end?. I'll give the second one a read at some point though.

Yes, it got quite silly!!

The third one is the worst.

Just finished book three which is one of the most tediously dull books I’ve ever experienced.

i had it on audible so it was easier to half listen, but if I’d been reading it I’d have given up. It was dreadful
