I'm new on this area. Has anyone ever read this book? I think the author was Susan someone. I read it 8 years ago and still almost haunted by it. It was so compelling. I saw it had been relaunched recently and wanted to buy it and read it again but my life went seriously downhill when I was reading it last timeand I am a little reluctant to read it again even though it was probably coincidence. Love to talk to anyone else who has read it....

the author is fromberg-shaeffer. I bought it years ago simply because of the title and never read it-just couldn't get into it-I found it very slow/hard going. But it was at least 15 yrs ago and maybe now Im a bit older I might appreciate it.
Alas gave it away to a charity shop I think.

I loved it but I must be the only one

I tried to read this recently... managed about 100 pages before throwing in the towel

Found it very slow and sluggish... just couldn't get into it despite the rather compelling write-up on the back cover

I hate not finishing books!

I absolutely loved it, read it years ago but it's one of those books that stays with you. It is a slow burner but worth staying with. Think I might even dust it off and read it again now!

Thanks Amfay, I am not the only one. I loved this book! I remember it so vividly. Maybe cos it was just before such a big change in my life. I am really tempted to buy it and read it again.
