I'm trying to think of the name of a book I read at least 20 years ago.

It's set in a Scandinavian country, possibly in the 17th Century. Definitely 1900s at the latest.

It's about the life of a woman. Her name is the title of the book I think. I feel like she was a bit wild, was maybe married off when she was 15/16. That husband might have died and she might inherited his money. There might have been a wild ride through the snow fleeing somewhere?

I think it followed her from when she was a girl/teenager into adulthood

I'm not sure if it was a translation or if it was originally written in English (but I read it in English).

I haven't read it myself - although I think I own it - so I can't be sure, but I have a hunch that you might be thinking of Kristin Lavransdatter.

Thank you. I have come across that book in my Google search (Scandinavian book about a woman 😂) .

I feel like I remember the book having a one word title but I'll definitely try that one

Sophie’s World - not the same plot but fits your brief of Scandinavian and name in title.
