Kobo Clara colour

I have a kindle but am thinking of upgrading to a kobo.

I like the look of the new colour version (my kids can enjoy kids books)

Anyone have both kindle and kobo and could tell me which they prefer.

I'm fed up of being tied to Amazon and want to use the library.

I have a black and white Clara and I'm eyeing up the colour. I have had an ordinary Kindle and I think both are much of a muchness in terms of the actual reading experience. I would never get a Kindle because I read too many library books via Libby and there are ways to sideload Kindle books if you so wish. The Kobo shop often matches Kindle offers anyway.

I hope this helps.

I'm wondering too.

I have posted before about having a Kobo Libra - very pleased with it for 2 reasons not being tied to Amazon and also the ability to continue getting books from the library.

I have been reading the reviews of the Libra colour and moving towards DH having my Libra and I get the colour one! The main reason is I do like seeing diagrams and photographs for books in colour - so I would say that is the main downside of the previous versions.

Hello, @SpinningTops

Hope you don't mind me asking whether you went for the Kobo Clara colour in the end? I have a Kindle - but I want to use the library so I was looking into Kobos. On seeing the Kobo Clara Colour, I realised that was what was missing from my ebook reading experience. So I'd be interested to read your assessment of it.

Yes, I'm very pleased with it.
Things worth knowing, there can be a bit of a wait for library books depending on the title and for my library you only get to have it for 3 weeks. If you've not finished and someone else is on the waiting list to borrow then you have to rejoin the waiting list.

The colour is nice as it has the colour cover of the current book as the background. It's also great for kids books. My daughter likes comics. So overall I prefer it to my kindle.

Do you mean the book's front cover becomes the background of the page you are reading?

I watched a review today that said the screen was much darker than the black and white. Do you find that?
