The House of Lost Souls - too scared to read it alone in house

I have started this book and it is soooo good, but soooooooo spooky. I'm too scared to read it at home, I can only read it while travelling on public transport surrounded by other people . I'm itching to have a good read tonight as DH is out ... but I'm too much of a wuss. If I pick it up now I mind end up panicking and calling the local vicar/ghostbusters etc. .

I had the same problem with Fangland...lordy that was icky and creepy!!! I am about half way through it, but am torn between facing my fears and reading it or leaving it for good...will make my mind up once I've tidied my bedroom (the ooks have taken over big time and I'm drowning in a sea of paper and dust!).

Now I want to konw what the House of Lost Souls is like. I'm a sucker for self inflicted punishment!

I've read it Coco,it is scary!
Thought it was very good though, especially the 1920's detail.

here I love scary books but then get really scared if ever dh is out.

southeastastra · 06/04/2008 17:17

ooh sounds good, love a scary book!

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 06/04/2008 22:51

do you think if I read it in bed tonight when everyone's asleep I'll get too scared to sleep myself? Still haven't been able to pick the darned thing up since work on Friday.

It's so scary that it seems a bit like I'll be polluting the family home with ghosts and ghoulies if I read it here.

i really want to read it now

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 06/04/2008 22:53

It didn't help that while MNing last night my computer started shouting at me: 'I wish you'd never been born'. Repeatedly. In a scary man voice.

Bear with me here.

It was the NSPCC ad.

ew that's horrible. will buy the book though

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 06/04/2008 23:02

Better to be shouted at by a horrible banner ad on MN than being genuinely and actually haunted!

Anyway, would def recommend the book.

Progress report: it's now got so good that I conquered my fears sufficiently to read the book not only in the house, but in bed a little bit last night. (Dh was in the bed to protect me from ghosts, I got a bit spooked downstairs on my own.)

Whooooooooo. ooooo. oooooo.

southeastastra · 11/04/2008 18:23

lol i really want to read this now
