Has anyone read Toast by (I think) Nigel Slater?
I heard a glowing review on the radio the other day and wondered if any of you lovely MN bookworms would recommend this one.

I thought it was ok. A bit odd ... he doesn't really get into his sexuality, although it's hinted at somewhat heavily. It's not really an autobiography in the normal sense. I enjoyed it, though.

oh yes, loved it! I am a big Nigel fan anyway and really like the way he writes.

Highly highly recommended

Yeah, it is quite bitty, lots of little scenes rather than a big story. I did enjoy it, I just somehow expected more or something. I guess I like his cooking better.

I enjoyed it - it was very nostalgic about life in the 70s in general, as well as specifically about food.

The sexuality stuff was a bit weird - would have rather it wasn't in there.

Carla's sister here. We both loved it.

i really liked it, though found the very short chapters a bit irritating.
