I have just finished reading Unmasked by Paul Holes about the Golden State Killer. I couldn't put it down!

Does anybody have any recommendations of something similar?

If you mean true crime - Gordon Burn, Carol Ann Lee and Sean O'Connor have written good books on British cases. I don't know about US ones so much, but there was a good book by Becky Cooper, 'We Keep the Dead Close', about a murder in Harvard which was solved after 40+ years.

I found The Blooding by Joseph Wambaugh fascinating. Case in England but American author.

Have you read I'll Be Gone In The Dark by Michelle McNamara?

Thank you for these, added to the list!

I should also have said 'My Dark Places' by James Ellroy, about his mother's murder.

There's a documentary about him which covers some of the same subject:

James Ellroy's Feast of Death

2001 James Ellroy documentary.
