Pillow, he has, yes. The Harrogate one is organised by crime writers - Val McDermid for the first 3 years, then Mark Billingham and Natasha Cooper. This year it's Simon Kernick. They often contact friends, writers they admire, other writers who they meet at crime fiction conventions.

I had a Lee Child obsession last year. Read them all night after night. They're certainly gripping even though they can be silly in places. One of them actually made me cry.

I heart jack reacher
great read this one
Does anyone want my copy now I've read it? For half cover price say?
my mum and I are both huge fans

Sidge · 31/03/2008 11:37

I finished it last night!!

Twas good. Agree with jura, not his best (a little too descriptive in places re layout of the plant etc) and not enough fighting for me but very enjoyable none the less.

And I can confirm Reacher does go commando. Negative underwear.

I got it from Tescos (£10!) and am about halfway through! Am quite enjoying it but think it would be handy to have a map at the front!

Though Sidge, he does mention buying underwear in this one

Sidge · 31/03/2008 14:22

Ah but Rosmerta at some point (about page 300 I think) it also mentions his underwear is beyond it's useful life so he goes without

ok, not got to that bit yet

I've been thinking about who could play him if they made it into a film. How about Ray Stevenson - was Pullo in Rome. Is very tall, well built, looks a bit rough around the edges.
Didn't enjoy the latest as much - sort of fizzled out at the end. But still a good read.

I vote for Richard Armitage. (Becasue i always do - for everything)

cocolepew · 31/03/2008 18:42

Wow Pooka, good choice! I'd never heard of him before My mum and I were talking at the weekend who could play our favourites. I always imagine John Cusack as Myron and she pictures Geoege Clooney as everyone

Much as I admire Richard Armitage I don't think he has the combination of height, bulk and brutishness required to portray reacher. I was very fond of Ray Stevenson in Rome.

Pillow · 31/03/2008 22:43

NO to RA from me - am v intrigued at this Ray bloke as gave up on Rome quite early on. He is def a contender. Maybe the person in question has to be quite unknown to you for it to work?

Pillow · 02/04/2008 22:55

I have to say I am a bit disappointed with this book. It just didnt have that "can't go to loo I'm so into it" quality for me. Heh ho - looking forward to the Harlan Coben later this month

rosmerta · 03/04/2008 09:31

I agree that this one doesn't really keep me as hooked, I'm finding it quite easy to read a couple of chapters and then put it down, whereas I usually have to finish them pretty much in one go!

Pillow, is the new HC one a Myron book do you know?

I really need to keep more up to date!

cocolepew · 04/04/2008 20:28

No it's not a Myron
