Does anyone feel their fantasy version of Jack sometimes gets blurred with Lee Child's photo inside the front cover? I still picture a great bod but the face goes a bit weak and watery until I can banish the photo from my thoughts

wheresthehamster · 27/03/2008 23:04

'Nothing to Lose' is the latest. Don't panic!

Pillow · 27/03/2008 23:07

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/03/2008 23:08

[swoon]

Pillow · 27/03/2008 23:12

OK Hammy I have checked and its a blazer now and not a leather jacket but it used to be a leather jacket and OMG WTF are you thinking???????

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/03/2008 23:20

Definitely not him - he looks like he should be drinking something social with my parents.

wheresthehamster · 27/03/2008 23:22

I'm trying to blank him from my mind but it's difficult

I'm sorry, Hammy, are you saying that you find this man attractive?

Pillow · 27/03/2008 23:27

And £10 in Tesco. According to my Mum. For whom I bought it. For Easter. For £17.99 in Waterstones.

wheresthehamster · 27/03/2008 23:30

Noooooooo!! Completely the opposite! I have this gorgeous Jack Reacher in my mind but Lee Child's face somehow superimposes onto lovely Jack's and ruins my fantasy.

Pillow · 27/03/2008 23:33

Ah well now I see. I was a bit worried...

Pillow · 27/03/2008 23:55

I killed the thread

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/03/2008 00:02

Can't let you do that!

Pillow · 28/03/2008 00:07

Ooh thank you BIWI. I just read a fight scene in the new book and onlooker asks "What happened?", as there are fallen bodies all around. And Jack says " I did". Am a bit [swoony]

havalina · 28/03/2008 01:05

I lurve Dennis Lehane and Christopher Brookmyre, but read half of a Lee Child book and couldn't really get into it. Am I missing something ? should I try another?

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/03/2008 08:16

Which one did you try to read, havalina? IMO some are much better than others. I found The Enemy the hardest, but I read it in the spirit of reading the whole series (in order).

tribpot · 28/03/2008 08:46

10 quid in Tescos you say? It has to be done. Love the books, pure escapism.

mehdismummy · 28/03/2008 08:50

ooh i have to read the last one yet! I am trying to think of someone fit to play him!

wheresthehamster · 28/03/2008 09:48

Had nothing to read last night so have started re-reading 'The Enemy'. I can't remember what happens so that's good

Bran - Christopher Brookmyre is fantastic!!! My dh bought be a couple when i was on mat leave and to be honest i thought they looked a bit pants. I was hooked! I particularly like "All fun and games until someone loses an eye" and the one about dodgy mediums.
I also love Lee Child's books, I didn't realise there was a new one out, can't wait to read it! (I never seem to have time to read but curiously have time to lurk on mumsnet )
And I love the Nick Stone novels by Andy Mcnab, now there's a man who knows how to kick some serious ass!

cocolepew · 28/03/2008 11:57

Just finished the new one. Can't wait for the new Harlan one, don't think it's Myron though

Sidge · 28/03/2008 12:03

Oh I'm glad this thread has picked up, I was beginning to think I was the only Lee Child fan out there!

I'm on page 208 of the new book (couldn't wait for the paperback, got it for £9.97 in Asda) and am really enjoying it. Reacher is just such a stud muffin in an anti-stud-muffin sort of way.

I hope they don't make a film, I prefer to keep Reacher in my head. Sometimes having a well-known film star play the part just ruins the escapism in the books for me.

It's interesting that those of us that like Lee Child also like other similar authors - I too love Harlan Coben (but mainly the Myron Bolitar books), Dennis Lehane, Janet Evanovich, Christopher Brookmyre. I also like Sue Grafton.

Oh I feel all warm and fuzzy here amongst fellow fans
