This story of the murder of Kim Hae-on, a high school girl in South Korea, and her sister’s (Da-on) investigation 17 years later was a little bit odd. The investigation isn’t the main point of the story, in fact it’s never explicitly said who the murderer is, although Da-on does think she’s worked it out. It’s more about the effects of grief on a family, but this felt a little superficial as the book is so short and is told from the viewpoint of three people, including two school-mates of the sisters. I was a bit confused about Hae-on, as some of her behaviour is a bit unusual, but it wasn’t made very clear what the cause was. As I said, it’s a bit odd, but I did kinda like it. This was free on Kindle Unlimited.
110. Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk
I absolutely loved everything about this book, it was just so incredibly vivid. I loved the story, the setting, and the characters, especially Janina, I loved this trip into her mind, and I was genuinely caught off guard by some parts. It’s definitely one of my favourite books so far this year.
111. Bag of Bones by Stephen King
Next in the Great Stephen King Reread. I enjoyed this much more than previously. There’s a good build-up and the central mystery kept me interested as I'd forgotten it since I last read this years ago.
112. The Narrows by Michael Connelly
Next in the Bosch series and The Poet serial killer is back! One of the better books in the series. Bosch is slightly less grumpy and arrogant in this one, and is still unaccountably attractive to the ladies. Honestly the knickers are pinging off left, right and centre whenever he is around!
