I’ve ordered the first of the series as it’s been popping up everywhere on Bookstigram.

Has anyone else read/finished the series?

I have read them all. I enjoyed books 1 and 2, but felt they went a bit downhill from then on and was disappointed by book 5. However, they are highly rated on Goodreads, so lots of readers must love them.

The plot does a complete 180 after book one which I found a bit odd, almost as though the author had changed her mind about the direction she wanted to go in.

Thanks for the reply!

I was going to buy the entire series, glad I waited now.

I love ACOTAR, when I start reading them I don't want to put them down. I found book 5 a bit slower to get into but when I'd got over that hurdle I devoured it.

LOVE IT

Just finished the 3rd book of the trilogy. Wasn't that pleased with it. ACOMAF was the best out of the three. It goes downhill from there sadly

All the SJM books are pretty samey IME - the heroines are largely interchangeable in ways that are quite annoying. There’s a whole Maasverse thing going on which means that the same stuff recurs in all her series in various ways. BookTok seems to absolutely love that though.

The books are entertaining enough (although I haven’t managed to finish even the stuff she has published). Frankly I found all the angsting in a box in kingdom of ash too dull to keep going with, and I got irritated with ACOWAR and gave up. I have tried with the crescent city books but haven’t managed to make it all the way through the second one (on audiobook) either.

ACOTAR is enjoyable enough to read though. You might love it.

I love SJM. I find I can't put her books down. For that reason I haven't started crescent moon series yet as I want them all published so I can binge the lot

Love love love SJM, I'm starting her Crescent city series next ready for the new release.
