Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this but I read a book many years back and can’t remember the name of the book or author and this is my last ditch attempt to find it. I’m hoping it might rings bells if someone has read it.
its a novel about a pathologist who examines the body of a guy washed up in the Hudson River. I think it turns out he was a mobster but anyhow she finds his liver has simian DNA so she embarks on a quest to find out how this is possible. She traces it to a secret research facility in the Congo where they have created human/ape hybrids. It ends with discovery of a whole new species beginning to evolve societies and develop language. I was talking to a friend who wants to read it but despite searching the web and libraries I can’t find anything resembling it.
any suggestions welcome!
