I've read all the Thursday Murder Club series - lightweight, enjoyable, cosy murder mysteries. Wasn't expecting to be in floods of tears tonight while reading the current one. Still plenty of fairly lightweight easy to read murder mystery, but some beautiful, carefully written emotionally fraught passages too. Absolutely bawled my eyes out. Anyone else taken by surprise!

yes - plot twist I didn't expect, but nicely done.

I'm currently listening to the audible version, that was some story to listen to on the way to work.

I had that driving experience on my way to work! Oh Richard!

I really enjoyed it - wasn't expecting that and thought it was really well written.

I had a little tear too.

I love the Thursday Murder books. So silly, but jolly good fun.

It was beautifully written, but I’m surprised it was unexpected for others. I always thought that was coming.

The first one made me cry. Reminded me of my mum.

OMG yes, me too. Crying in the car on the way to work, had to explain to my colleagues what was the matter when I arrived red eyed! A really wonderful bit of writing. Everything in me wants to dislike his books but I have to hand it to Mr Osman - they are bloody brilliant and in this case enormously moving.

On the flip side, Alan is comedy genius, I adore Ibrahim and Joyce and Garth was inspired!

Mushroomwithaview · 23/10/2023 08:34

I don't think I quite 'got' Garth.

I couldn't picture him.
I skimmed over Garth a bit.
