Funny, easy read please.

Looking for humorous, silly, light hearted, easy reads for my upcoming holiday, particularly for the flight (I am a nervous flyer).
Any recommendations? I quite enjoy autobiographies, or a bit of crime/who dun it, like the Richard Osman books. All suggestions welcome. Thank you 😊

Nancy Mitford's 'The Pursuit of Love'

It's more for teenagers but I just love Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder series by Jo Nesbo! And any of his Doctor Proctor books!

Jo is Norwegian and writes adult stuff too such as Harry Hole detective, but I absolutely cry with laughter as his Proctor things and the hilarious little drawings!

Anything by Christopher Moore.

Paul O'Grady's autobiographies, definitely. The first one is "At my Mother's Knee...and Other Low Joints".

Early Evelyn Waugh for something a bit more highbrow.

Anthony Horowitz the Word is Murder is good - follow u books not quite so amusing.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned P. G. Wodehouse! Stephen Fry called his writing “sunlit perfection,” which is so true. For me, Right Ho Jeeves is his masterpiece.

Evelyn Waugh’s Decline and Fall is possibly the funniest novel in the English language, especially the first half. John Betjamen said that when he read it, he knew he’d never read anything funnier. I also love Vile Bodies. Oh, and The Sword of Honour trilogy.

Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?

Personally, I loved Brian Blessed’s autobiography. Really funny and heartwarming. David Niven’s autobiography is also great.

The Her Majesty the Queen Investigates series. Whodunnits packed with dry humour in the Osman style.

Read a great book recently called 'Vera Wong's unsolicited advice for murderers'. Then another book by the same author 'Dial A for Aunties'.

Patricia Fisher series - Steve Higgs

The Agatha Raisin series. Short, light, easy reads and there are LOADS of them. I guess they’re what’s called ‘cosy crime’.

Would agree with the pp - The Anthony Horowitz series beginning with The Word is Murder is great - very lighthearted.

Don’t think anyone else has mentioned it but The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood has very similar setting and feel to Richard Osmans.

Diary of a Nobody, it’s a golden oldie way before our time but it gives me proper belly laughs every time I read it.

Alexander McCall Smith's Scotland Street series. No murders! Amusing range of eccentric characters and short chapters; easy to read.

Bob Mortimer - The Satsuma Complex. Funny with a crime story, very much in the vein of Richard Osman
