Bedtime book for a 7 year old

Can anyone recommend some good books for me to read to 7yo DD please?

She's loved the Roald Dahls and Enid Blytons, but now I'm at the end of what I can remember from my own childhood!

Shes a good reader herself and has the rainbow magic etc, but this is for me to read to her. She's not quite ready for Harry Potter etc yet, she doesnt like trouble/scary in a book (wont let me read The Witches etc)...

My son loves the Rory Branagan books by Andrew Clover. Think there's 5/6 now.

My 7 year old loves David Walliams at the moment (although I think they are awful and don’t really enjoy reading them to her - I’d like to go back to Isadora Moon!)

Septimus Heap is a good precursor to Harry Potter. Magic but not scary!

Some series my 5 and 8 year olds like: The Boy Who Grew Dragons, The Worst Witch, Leonora Bolt, Flat Stanley, The House That Sailed Away.

Agree with rainbow grey and Amelia fang. My dd loves the adventurers series which is like a modern day famous five.

The ickabog was a good one at 7 too.

Grimwood books by nadia shireen are hilarious. Also the worst witch series is good for that age.

The Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones is great. Not as scary/tense as Harry Potter, but wonderfully imaginative, brilliant stories.

The Mormons, Dr Doolittle, Paddington & Mr Majeika we’re all favourites in our household at that age.

We just ordered a lovely wee book called 'the bee who did a wee' by an unknown author I think was called Phil jay.

Jasmine Green series by Helen Peters.

Olga da Polga series by Michael Bond.
