Hi all,
I have been in a slump with reading for a while now. I was wondering if you could help me. I like well written books with no faff or much romance. I like short ish chapters with a nice fast pace that I can finish quickly. I have previously read
•Claire Keegan
•Agatha Christie
• Donal Ryan
Other books
• Lessons in Chemistry
•The Glass House Eve Chase
• My Brilliant Friend
• Where the Crawdads Sing
Could you please recommend something similar please?

The Girls who Disappeared - Claire Douglas

The Dinner Guest BP Walter

The Last Holiday Amy Shepard

I've just finished Songbirds by Christy Lefteri and loved it. Haven't been reading much the past few months as have a toddler but it had short chapters so was easy to fit in and was a really good yarn. Really got me back in to reading rather wasting time on my phone x

I've really enjoyed Jojo Moyes books

I've just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I absolutely loved it!

I've just finished reading Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. I'd recommend that.

Nor sure how similar/ dissimilar theses are to your list but recommend

1- demon copperhead ( Barbara Kingsolver)
2- the little friend ( Donna tart))

Both brilliant in my opinion

seishi yokomizo - 5 of his books have been translated from the Japanese recently. Murder mystery in the post war period. Like Christie but a bit more gruesome!

If you'd like to try something a little different The nevermore bookshop series by Steffanie Holmes is an amusing cozy murder mystery why choose romance series. Pretty spicy 😁

1vandal2 · 12/08/2023 03:38

Pennylope32 · 12/08/2023 03:42

Halfway through this, adoring it

Anonposter123 · 13/08/2023 17:16

@Piggyisaway brilliant isn’t it! There’s 2 more than follow that are both really good, once I’d read them all I watched the film too!

JaneyGee · 13/08/2023 18:01

If you like Agatha Christie, try M. R. James, Dorothy L. Sayers and the Sherlock Holmes books (or listen to them read by Stephen Fry).

I could only struggle to halfway through Little Friend before giving up. I don't recall it having short chapters or fast pace as OP asked for, but I'm glad you enjoyed it so much
