Good grief The Testaments is SO bad! It's nowhere near as good as it thinks it is.
I loved The Handmaid's Tale and have re-read it many times. I enjoyed the tv series for a while, until I was really very over the constant images of brutalised women.
So I was really looking forward to The Testaments. What a waste of excitement and anticipation that was!
It's predictable and quite boring. Nothing new or thought-provoking in the slightest. And so very much geared to appeasing tv fans.
There is no way it deserved the Booker prize. No way on this earth that had Margaret Atwood won it for her earlier work - and deservedly so - it would have been even short-listed.
Bernardine Evaristo should have been awarded that on her own. And not had to share.
