I think there should be one for us adults too. Especially those f us who want to get back into reading. Would anyone like to join one?
I suggest 3 books.

Yeah, I agree with your opinion. I would recommend 3 books:
Kafka on the Shore - Haruki Murakami
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
The Shining - Stephen King

Hi! Yes, me, I'd like to join please. I had already said to my two children that I would be joining them on their Summer Reading Challenge this year :)

The books I currently have in a TBR pile under my bed are:

What It Means When A Man Falls From The Sky by Lesley Arimah
Love In Colour by Bolu Babalola
The Woman In The Photograph by Stephanie Butland
Femlandia by Christina Dalcher
The Lonely Londoners by Samuel Selvon
If It Bleeds by Stephen King
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
Oxblood by Tom Ben
Coming To England by Floella Benjamin
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve
The Worst Journey In The World by Cherry Aspley-Garrard
Beloved by Toni Morrison

and I currently also have The Stand by Stephen King on audiobook too. I personally count audiobooks but I know that some people don't.

That's 15.
As I am fully expecting my children to reach the 18 books Summer Reading Challenge, I think it's only fair that I put in my best effort to complete all of the above.

How's everyone doing?

I finished The Lonely Londoners by Samuel Selvon and started Femlandia by Christina Dalcher last night, so good! Couldn't put it down until about midnight. Regretting that a little this morning 😴

Have at least another 4 shelves of books to read before buying new ones.

Which never works so it is, two out one in? Might try three out on in ratio.

UnfunnyJester · 09/08/2023 23:06

I finished A Walk in the Woods, currently reading Spinning Silver and have Stephen King's Fairy Tale to read next.

Hehe, I am the same but mine are mostly e-books so at least they don't take up physical space.

I read somewhere "it's time to admit that buying books and reading books are two completely separate hobbies", and I felt seen 😂

I like physical books, plus it's a good example to the kids as they do enough screens they are not doing book screens as well!

I am getting better, and I give books away, most of them when read because there is always something new to read.

I have been into Foyles (Tottenham court one) and a huge Waterstones this month and resisted! The kids got books clearly.
