House on Needless Street- advice needed

Hi folks!

I am maybe an 1/8 in to this and finding it odd. Nothing much has happened yet and my worry is that this is a 'literary' book rather than a good story. Should I persevere?

It takes a while to get going and it does feel oddly disjointed at first but it's worth persevering with! Not a "literary" book definitely a good story but a slow building one.

I thought it was really dull and bland and the "twist" was hackneyed and irritating.

I didn’t really enjoy this book, but persevered with it. It sort of got into my head though and I still think about it.

I enjoyed it more once I stopped expecting it to flow like a 'normal' story, and I had to read back and forth a bit to remind myself of some bits / figure stuff out as I went along. Once I'd accepted that about it I found it worth persevering with but it was a bit of an odd read!

Me too, really wish I hadn't read it tbh. It read like a film to me, a really grim film🤢

I loved it. One of my favourites. I found that Dee's chapters helped as she had the most cohesive narrative but I really enjoyed it. I found all the twists good and couldn't put it down. Read it in about 3days.

I thought it wasn’t very good at all - no idea why it got so much praise. Takes ages to get to a ‘twistI’ that was obvious from the start

So, I did finish it. I liked some of the writing but was ultimate disappointed with the story

I've just started reading this. And there are chapters from the cats point of view? Wtf? Luckily it was only 99p on kindle.
