I've just finished The Nightingale and absolutely loved it. In keen to read more of hers - if you have read some, what one would you recommend next?

Love her books! Firefly Lane is wonderful.

I have also just finished The Nightingale. It was exceptional. I've read The Night Road too, which I thoroughly enjoyed too. And I've just downloaded The Four Winds. Enjoy!

ArcticBells · 22/06/2023 05:44

I've read all her books and they are all good but none of the others are in the same league as The Nightingale.

Plump82 · 22/06/2023 09:44

That was my fear that the bad was set high after reading The Nightingale. I have The Great Alone and Four Winds to give a go next.
I want to read Firefly Lane before I watch it.

I'm reading The Nightingale now!

Years and years ago I read On Mystic Lake and remember crying over it and recommending it to everyone. I must have been a late teen. I loaned it out and never got it back. Cant remember much about it now. But do remember that it took over my life for a bit and I rarely remember authors names, or book titles.

GCSister · 27/06/2023 11:41

The Great Alone

But all of them are great! Every one has made me cry!

Creepybookworm · 27/06/2023 16:55

I really enjoyed The great Alone but thought the end was a bit silly.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/06/2023 16:57

Loved The Nightingale but have just read The Four Winds for book club and really struggled finishing it

maranella · 27/06/2023 17:01

I read The Four Winds a couple of months ago - it was really good, but not in the same league as The Nightingale. I also have The Great Alone. I do like her writing a lot.

BrandyandGinger · 24/08/2023 21:18

I'm reading The Great Alone and I'm absolutely loving it. It's been years since I was so emotionally involved in a book.

QueenCoconut · 24/08/2023 23:04

The Great Alone was a five star read for me. Beautiful.
I haven’t read The Nightingale yet so adding it to my list now.

GreenCereal · 24/08/2023 23:09

Just finished The Great Alone and loved it - although I also thought the end was a bit unbelievable, so it took it down to 4 stars from 5 for me.

CoreopsisEverywhere · 25/08/2023 07:32

The only one I’ve read, and very recently, is Four Winds. I really enjoyed it and found it very moving and shocking.

Plump82 · 25/08/2023 21:07

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and am excited to finally get to read another one of hers. Have been holding off till now.

I love them all but I think the great alone is my favourite, and also winter garden

Plump82 · 25/08/2023 21:20

I have the Great Alone and The Four Winds. So will go with The Great Alone first.

Lovewine1975 · 19/09/2023 16:17

I love her books I've read Winter Garden and the Nightingale which have been my favourites so far set during WW2 and had me in bits, also read Wild and The Great Alone and really enjoyed!

SkyeBlue28 · 19/09/2023 20:05

The Great Alone is brilliant. The Winter Garden didn’t do it for me.

cathyj77 · 19/09/2023 20:40

I much preferred Great Alone and Four Winds to The Nightingale!

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 19/09/2023 20:46

I love almost all of her books! Home front is less mentioned than others but I thought it was as good if not better than Nightingale. Story of a female front line soldier who is also a mum. Had me in floods and I rarely cry at books.

Also try Kate Quinn - Rose code especially is brilliant

Plump82 · 19/09/2023 21:22

I'm actually really struggling with The Great Alone. Finding it very slow. Does it pick up? I had such high hopes for it and im bad at giving up on books that aren't gripping me.

OP posts:
Lovewine1975 · 20/09/2023 09:41

@Plump82 I found it slow at first takes a few chapters to get going, worth sticking with - I'm terrible for giving up on books if it doesn't grip me in the first couple chapters I give up, but for some reason kept reading with this one

Plump82 · 20/09/2023 12:59

I'll stick with it then. Really need to give myself a few hours to have a good read rather than a few pages here and there.

Citygirlrurallife · 21/09/2023 21:17

Def stick with it, I loved The Great Alone though I think The Nightingale has been my favourite so far
