I've watched loads of his series and love them, are his books also worth reading? And if you've read him, what's your favourite?

He is one of my favourite authors (along with Robert Crais) - don't have a favourite but I did enjoy Win recently- however don't start with that one!
I have all his myron Bolitar books and re read them every few years.

Thank you! His series' are so well written but I was wondering if they just translated on screen well. I'll give that series a try.

Can’t stand him. He writes in such a mysoginistic way.

Oh, interesting. In what way?

Oh, interesting. In what way?

His descriptions of women are one of three types. Hyper sexual, pathetic victims or ugly.
he never describes the appearance of his make characters in this way. Just read a few chapters and you’ll see what I mean.

Thank you, I say interesting because although I didn't get that sense from what I've watched I can imagine that being the case from the storylines.

I love his Myron series, I've never thought he writes about women in a misogynistic way. A lot of the main characters are women.
I've read all his books including the YA.

laydownsally · 12/06/2023 18:43

Thank you, definitely gonna try out that series.

I used to love him but now completely agree with the misogyny. His cringe descriptions of Jessica...
Also, the painful and repetitive focus on family and the concept of doing literally everything for your family. I dunno - I just switched off from him.

He's the only author where I have read the books, then watched the series and decided the series is better.

It occurs to me that the Myron books is a world that Harlen Coben wants to inhabit. A big wrestling woman, an adorable woman, a talented thwarted sportstar, a dream mom and pop and a violent millionaire friend. I'm not keen on them.
