(No spoilers)

I just finished this and it was great! It really zipped along - well written, fun and funny. The plot was clever, the characters were well observed.

It was one of those books that doesn't overexplain everything which has the effect of making the reader feel clever.

Are her others similar?

I need to read something different next but I'll definitely return to her back catalogue if they're in a similar vein

Just read Beautiful Dead. Better than Exit! She’s a great author.

Puppylucky · 23/04/2023 22:29

Yes they are - I read Snap by her a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it!

StrikeandRobin · 23/04/2023 22:30

Exit is brilliant.

On the back of that I ordered one of her others and it was quite disturbing and gruesome, not the lighthearted read exit was at all!

WhereMyRosemaryGoes · 23/04/2023 22:31

Which one was that Strike?

It was blacklands I read.
Maybe it was the subject matter, child torture, SA & murder. Chilling. It’s put me off reading her others.

WhereMyRosemaryGoes · 23/04/2023 22:42

I think I'll avoid that one :/

Someone here recommended Exit to me (thanks if you recognise yourself) but I only got round to it recently. So good! Absolutely loved it.

Rodders92 · 24/04/2023 17:46

Rubbernecker is really good

StrikeandRobin · 24/04/2023 18:35

Anyone that’s read Exit, Blacklands and her others, are her others more like Exit or more realistic like Blacklands?

I so enjoyed Exit but don’t want to risk reading another Blacklands!
Tia.

Rodders92 · 24/04/2023 20:45

Her books are a mixture of very dark and those more like Exit , I loved Exit but Rubbernecker is still my favourite and nothing like Blacklands

AtomicBlondeRose · 24/04/2023 20:47

I really enjoyed Exit. It’s not often a book makes me laugh around and genuinely surprises me with the twists of the plot but that did both! I’ve read her books since the first one and they just get better. Some are dark but there’s a realism to the characters that makes it bearable.

I've read all Belinda Bauer books and love them. I discovered her with the Exmoor Trilogy and immediately read all her others that were available. Keep my eye out for new books.

TonTonMacoute · 28/04/2023 16:55

I've read all of them too, really like them, although the Facts of Life and Death was her weakest one IMO.

I have definitely read Exit but I cannot remember anything about it at all. Will obviously have to reread!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 30/04/2023 00:15

The Shut Eye is good, as is The Snap, and Beautiful Dead. Blacklands was disturbing in places but really well written. Rubbernecker freaked me out more! She knows how to do a good ending though. The only one I didn’t enjoy was Darkside because the main character had zero personality.

Mooserp · 30/04/2023 12:21

I've read (or listened to) all of her books. Exit and Rubbernecker are my favourites.

Exit is brilliantly narrated by Tim McInnerny.

IcakethereforeIam · 30/04/2023 16:43

I do enjoy her books but I started one of hers months ago and I started reading a scene and....I just can't bring myself to go back to it. It's been so long now I'm not sure which title it is. Not Blacklands. A girl on a beach with a man😱
