Just that really! I usually spend a lot of time reading, have a fair idea of new releases, browse bookshops etc but after a pretty stressful 18 months I’m really out of touch. My Dad passed away and my teenager was school refusing and all I felt up to reading was thrillers & trash.

Life is getting back to normal now & I’ve recently read the latest Jonathan Coe and Maggie O’Farrell but any brilliant books that I might have missed in the last 18 months, please let me know!

I enjoyed -
The Thing We Do to Our Friends by Heather Darwent
Medusa by Jessie Burton
Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellers
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
The Whispering Muse by Laura Purcell
Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder
Broken Summer by Jung-Myung Lee

I'm sorry for the loss of your dad.

@GalileoHumpkins thank you, will go and take a look! Re Jessie Burton, I really hated The Confession and didn’t much like The Muse so did wonder if she was a one book wonder (The Miniaturist was decent). Will check her latest out though.

I've just finished When I First Held You by Anstey Harris. Really beautifully written.

I’m very sorry for your loss @Whohashiddenthebiscuits The books I have read recently and loved are Demon Copperhead (incredible) and Romantic Comedy (really sweet and easy to read but not just chick flick). @shumway Did you like romantic comedy?
