Recommendations.....like Jonathan Coe

Hi all. I am about to go away for a few days and my tbr pile is all a bit depressing (think women being oppressed- Silence of the Girls/The Mercies/Dancing Tree/The Rapture etc) I have just read the latest Jonathan Coe and fancy something a bit like that (or Joanna Cannon/Liane Moriarty etc). Any suggestions? Thanks

I haven't read the latest Coe but if it's like the ones I have read - intelligent, a bit retro, subtle sense of humour - then I would suggest Kate Atkinson.

Not really quite the same but Gentleman & Players by Joanne Harris sort of reminds me of the Rotters Club.
