I didn't know where to put this.
I came to his Bryant and May books in 2006 and read the last at Christmas.
They brought London back to me in a rush, and his memoirs (we are much the same age) did the same with their lists of 50s/60s sweets.

What a good egg he was.

I was saddened to see that he has died, I've enjoyed reading his books too.

Very sad to hear this. I have read all the Bryant and May books and throughly enjoyed them. Thank goodness I have the Peculiar London book left to read .I also enjoyed his book on forgotten authors.

I knew he was very seriously ill from Twitter. I think he was told it was terminal in autumn 2021.

I really enjoyed the first two Bryant & May books and still have the rest, and his memoirs, TBR. I like the weird humour, the history and the north London settings. My aunt lives in Kentish Town and I've worked near there and near Kings Cross so I love being able to spot the familiar places named in the books.
