It’s not a book, it’s a song.

But I reckon there’s a few people on here who can find anything from the most scrappy clue.

This was a song that Terry Wogan used to play on his morning show, probably going back about eighteen years or so. Female singer who sounded a lot like one of the Abba girls - one of the lyrics was ‘I’m going to sleep all day, hey-yey, gonna sleep the day away.’

I’ve googled it intermittently but never found it from that.

Thanks in advance. X

Bumping because I love a mystery, had a look on lyrics.com but can't see anything close, hope someone can find it for you!

hahaha yeah me too, @Luckingfovely and I’m always amazed what people on here can identify from a vague single line synopsis. It was a lovely haunting song that really struck a chord with me at the time (first bad breakup 🥲) and I‘ve been singing that one phrase inwardly for years whenever I read anything about broken-hearted people staying asleep so they don’t have to face the day. Never occurred to me to ask Mumsnet until tonight, I’d really love to hear it again, fingers crossed!

It's not I Go To Sleep by The Pretenders is it? It doesn't have the line you remember, but I can imagine it being a Terry Wogan mainstay!

Or I Don't Want To Wake Up Today by Heather Masse?

LaFemmeDamnee · 12/02/2023 22:40

I hope you find it. My suggestions are Here With Me (Dido), or something by Evanescence. There's a Jason Mraz song with lines about sleeping all day from 2003, but he's a man and that song is cheery not haunting.

It's by Charlie Dore: www.charliedore.com/SleepAllDay.html (and it's lovely)

Amazing. Thank you @CrossPurposes I love it, feeling instantly transported back to my yoof 😂And thanks to the other posters, couple of belters in there too.

I thought this was going to be about someone not knowing that Wuthering Heights is a book and not just a Kate Bush song!

I'm not so hot on the book hunts so I was pleased with this one!
