I've realised that I feel really out of sorts if I dont have a good book on the go, it makes me feel unsettled, like there is something missing? When I start a new book and I know I'm going to enjoy it, I feel calm. I also get twitchy if I start books and they are mediocre...and it seems to filter through, I can have good runs of reading and enjoying, and then a spell of DNF...quite often I'll go back and read abandoned books later and love them. I have a few authors that i turn to to re-start my love of reading.

I know what you mean. For me it's got to a whole new level though. If I start a book and love it I binge it, complete with feeling desperate and obsessed when I'm not reading it to staying awake reading till 4am knowing I'll feel awful the next day. I think it's something to do with my life having very little me-time and opportunity for escape/fulfillment. Sadly it means I hardly ever read these days as I can't afford to get like that.

Yes. I need to have a good book on the go in case I need to "escape" from worry or boredom or whatever. Feel the right books are harder and harder to find
