Other than Goodreads.

I get fed up with Goodreads. Sometimes it doesn’t add my books. Sometimes does. I find it hard to use. Does anyone have anything else to use other than Goodreads.

I keep mine each year in a list in my planner/commonplace book 😂 maybe I’m a bit of a dinosaur! I have another list for books I’ve seen and would like to read.

I also follow a lot of people who do it on instagram. Just a photo of each book… not sure other than that, but I bet there’s an app for it, there’s an app for everything!

I agree and following. I find the idea that they suggest the next read for you either well hidden or oversold

However, I often like to read a panoply of reviews that you can get access to on GR after I've finished reading. You can pretty much always find one that agrees with you Grin

Bookbub is a good way of finding books.

Storygraph. It works a lot like Goodreads, you can log what you read, what you are currently reading, tbr etc and it gives you end of year reading stats. There is also recommendations, reviews, reading challenges and other community type stuff. You should also be able to export your Goodreads and import it to Storygraph.

@tobee me too. I scan the reviews until I find one that captures my experience and feel vindicated for hating the book (funnily enough it's only when I dislike a book that I want to see how much others disliked it too).

Same here. I rarely look for reviews if I've enjoyed a book but often do if I haven't. It's reassuring to find other readers who didn't enjoy the book.

I've been using Storygraph for the last year but I'm not sure whether I like it any more than Goodreads. One plus point, however, is their breakdown of your reading stats month by month, with lovely colourful charts. I'm sticking with it for the charts, and Goodreads purely because I've been on there for around ten years now and it feels familiar.

I find both annoying and glitchy. Both only sometimes log the book and both lack the flexibility to accurately change dates and choose different formats of the book. I like the graphs on Storygraph but when we signed DD for eg neither of us could link up with each other - it was such hard work!

It's def an area that a decent app could sweep in and do v well! I'd really like a "family version" where we could log what we're all reading separately but also together. I do this on Instagram and we have separate GR accounts but I'd like it all in one app.

I do this 😂 if I like a book I don’t care what other people thought, but if I hate it I want to see why others hated it!

I too use Storygraph and recommend it.
