When I was around 10 so 1999 I read a book in year 6 about the beast of bodmin.
It was a fictional book and it had a (zoomed in) panthers face on the cover, it was mainly black but it had two bright green eyes looking through long grass.
I always thought it was called the beast of Bodmin but I can’t find it, all the books I have found were published in 2004 onwards.
I’ve attached a doodle of what I think I remember the book cover looking like.
I’m sure story was centred around a child/person discovering the panther after livestock kept being found dead but again my memory is so hazy, all I do know is I really enjoyed the book and would love to get it for my daughter.

Can anyone help me find a book?

I found a book on eBay with a similar cover. Bodmin Moor by R.J. Bavister. Then having tracked it down I found it on Amazon. The date is later but that is only the edition date.

Panther by Martin Booth?

Although the publication date here is given as 2001, it was originally published in 1999.
