What do you think about the book "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts? I'm reading it like crazy. It's based on real story and they did film about it

One of my favourite books. I've read it twice and loved it equally the second time. Don't bother with the sequel though - tragically disappointing!

I read it earlier this year, found some parts interesting but it took me a long time to read - probably so long that I should have realised I wasn't really enjoying it and stopped trying to read it! I finished eventually...... I did find the narrator a bit annoying.

Aaah, Shantaram. ‘Tough men. Tough MEN’ 😂
I loved reading about the scenery, the culture, the speed of life and the joining in.

I would like to know more at the start - the writer seemed blissfully cool with having left his daughter behind and barely mentioned her since. And I wanted to know more about why / how he came to fly to India, but I imagine he just went with the quickest and easiest flight outta there!

I loved all the stories and how joyfully he found his ‘people’. I think it’s always nice to hear about someone finding their people.

Totally agree with you on the sequel...I forced myself through it but I really wish I hadn't! Loved the first one though
