Uplifting book

A relative is just about to start chemotherapy. I'd like to buy them a book for when they're attending appointments.

I'd like to buy them a funny or uplifting book. What would people recommend. I've just read the Keeper of Stories so will probably get that but would like to buy another one too.

Where d'ya go Bernadette? by Maria Semple made me laugh out loud.....(better than the film).

West with Giraffes is a delightful story.

Sometimes if you have treatment, your concentration can be really short, so maybe a book of short stories, or short chapters?
