Hi, My daughter loves reading but I’m finding it hard to find books that are not too old for her. She’s capable of reading higher than her age but it’s the content I’m worried about.

Any suggestions very welcome
Thanks

My 12 yo and I recently read A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan. We both really enjoyed it and there are 2 further books in the series. I got the full set for my nephew of the same age and he read them in no time.
It felt to me a good balance for this age group.
I'll have a think to remember any others he's enjoyed.

My 13yo is really enjoying the Noughts and Crosses trilogy at the moment.

Classics are your friend!

What Katy Did books
Anne of Green Gables
Gone Away Lake and Thimble Summer by Elizabeth Enright

I think books written for the same age long ago were written to a higher level than they are now. However, it's sometimes hard to pick out the ones without racist or otherwise horrible bits...

More contemporary--The Penderwicks, The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Lockwood and Company series by Jonathan Stroud, Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk (amazing)
