Be Near Me. Who has read it. I'm struggling and can't get my head round it, foreigner that I am!

It's so . . . damning of small-town Scottish people.

And I just cannot for the life of me get my head round it.

Because I am. Outside a small town.

In an even more remote place.

And people just don't give a stuff!

Or maybe I've not seen it? As an American married to a Scotsman? But you think I would have, because folk don't know that, when I speak.

It's set it present day and I just - cannot buy it.

Especially coming from a Glaswegian.

Mind you, it is utterly beautiful!

The prose is so much a treat.

So completely gorgeous.

anyone?

i paid full whack for it in the local bookshop, desperate for a read and the local library only had stuff i'd already read or tosh.

ordered other stuff but it will be at least a week and this is my 3rd book for the new year, my resolution to never stop reading - 'An amateur writes more than he reads'.
