By William Peter a Larry. Has anyone read this at all? Just purchased on Amazon kindle for £0.99. I've seen the film (regrettably) but I have heard the book is better?!

Fan of horror books here but the only other scariest book I think I've read so far is 'It' by Stephen King.

It’s very good, better than the film. Enjoy!

@Neroliandorchid thanks! Is it one to read before bed? 😆

Depends whether these things bother you. I don’t tend to get scared by books, films maybe 🥺

@Neroliandorchid thanks!

I was staying over with my aunt and cousin when I was ten, and sharing a room with my aunt.
that night, my cousin was really sick, so my aunt was looking after him. I was woken up and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I started reading the book on her bedside table, which was The Exorcist. I thought it was pretty good!

the film creeped me out though. It was banned on video for a time in the 80s

@TrashyPanda film freaked me out also which is why I'm a bit apprehensive about the book. Maybe I'll read the first few chapters...!

Yes it’s a good book, much more intelligent than the film. Horrifying of course!

JulyDreams · 16/08/2022 09:36

Thanks @FictionalCharacter I'm intrigued !

@JulyDreams Yes, coincidentally it's the book I suggested on the thread asking for good, scary horror titles.
I first read it in 1973 before I saw the film. I thought the book was better. There's one part which I don't think was in the film that really scared me but I don't want to give any spoilers. Quite early on in the story.
I don't know if it's your auto correct but the author's surname is Blatty. Let us know what you think of the book.

Ooo might out this book on my list.. I watched the film at age 11 (parents had no idea) it scared the shot out of me and still does!

TowerStork · 18/08/2022 17:41

Not into horror or religion but I really enjoyed reading this book

You've convinced me to carry on reading past the first couple of pages ! Thank you
