A children's book, not recent. A young girl finds a old jewellery box or chest at an antiques store and which contains various items eg a bird's egg. they turn out to be magical.
Any ideas?

Thank you but I don't think that's it.
I am thinking it is a children's book and not so recent.
Thanks though!

What the witch left?

ButtonSister · 26/07/2022 19:53

Is it an Edith Nesbitt book? 5 Children and It maybe? Or there's another about a phoenix?

Saucery · 26/07/2022 20:14

It’s not The Phoenix And The Carpet, because the egg is rolled up in a carpet, not in a box.

pollyhemlock · 26/07/2022 21:56

@redtypistbluetypist any of these suggestions any good?

redtypistbluetypist · 26/07/2022 22:34

Thank you to people who have given suggestions!
I've read Five Children and It so don't think it's that one. However What the Witch Left and A Pack of Lies both sound promising and I am going to get my hands on both of those titles. Thanks again!
