Beach books 2022

[Uncomplicated]

Hi. I am starting to buy books for my summer holiday and think my first buy is a safe bet. Ten classic crime stories for summer. They are short stories so I am sure to like at least a couple of them and even if I don’t like the others at least I won’t have invested hours on reading something I don’t enjoy. What are you packing?

I just read Judy Blume The Unlikely Event on holiday and it was just the thing. Not at all demanding but not too clichéd or drossy. BUT it does feature plane crashes, so maybe not if you are flying and at all nervous about it.

I'm about halfway through 'All my Mothers' by Joanna Glen. She also wrote 'The other half of Augusta Hope'. So far so good.

I'm off on hols tomorrow and have also downloaded 'a complicated kindness'. I usually go to thebibliofilles on Instagram for recommendations.

I have a similar book, OP, but it's winter murder mysteries or maybe Christmas. Think it's a series of collections.

I've decided I'm going to re-read Heatwave by Penelope Lively. Love books that fit with the season.

I think Taylor Jenkins Reid books are great for the beach - love the Daisy Jones and The Six one in particular! Also love a RomCom - Emily Henry and Talia Hibbert do great ones.
