Just wondering if anybody has come across / can point me in the directionality some espionage type thrillers which are set following the collapse of the Soviet Union?

Im not sure I explained it very well! Like traditional Cold War / le Carré type spy stories but based around the collapse of the Soviet Union / east Germany etc.

The Brandenberg Gate and all the following books in the series are set in that era. The author, Henry Porter, has also written an amazing newer series, starting with Firefly about the current Eastern European issues.

I enjoyed them all.

Robert Harris is always good for modern historical fiction, although I don’t know if he’s written anything about the era you’re interested in.

Max Hertzberg, a series of 5 set in East Germany and featuring a Stasi officer. Also the Karin Muller series by David Young, Muller is also a Stasi officer.

I enjoyed the Karin Muller books, the Red Sparrow ones and the Child 44 series. I have just finished Natasha Pulley’s latest which is set in soviet Russia- loved it.

Archangel by Robert Harris would fit your bill.
