I like the following authors
Lisa Jewell
Maggie O Farrell
Curtis Sittenfield
Louise Candlish
Joanne Cannon
Val McDermid
CL Taylor

I'd like something that isn't soppy or romantic, I like thrillers but not too gory.
Karen Slaughter is too much for me!

I'm reading Quintin Jardine Bob Skinner series and enjoying them. I find Val Mcdermid pretty gory tbh. Others I've enjoyed would be Elly Griffiths Ruth Galloway series, Rebus series by Ian Rankin, Michael Robotham Joe Mcloughlin series.

Wellwhatalovelyday · 18/02/2022 15:07

Alice feeney might fit the bill!

Knockoneofftheshelftowin · 18/02/2022 15:11

I am reading Inheritance by Jenny Eclair.. I like the same as you usually, this is nothing like those but VG so far.
Anything by JE is good.

Papergirl1968 · 18/02/2022 15:17

Jodi Picoult, Diane Chamberlain, Dorothy Koomson. Kelly Rimer is supposed to be good but not read any of hers yet.

Papergirl1968 · 18/02/2022 15:33

Sorry, Kelly Rimmer is the correct spelling.
Love Liane Moriarty too.

cheeseisthebest · 18/02/2022 17:24

John Marrs
Just finished When you disappeared. Have read The Good Samaritan earlier.
The man is a psycho - I mean the writer - and I thoroughly recommend.

Fizzbo · 18/02/2022 17:33

Any of the Lucy Clarke books. All based around the sea. No Escape and Last Seen are the first two I read. Her others are good too.

Blackcountryexile · 18/02/2022 17:47

Susan Hill's mystery series
Jane Harper thrillers
Robert Galbraith thrillers ,although they can be gory
Sally Magnusson
Lissa Evans

Lemonweightloss · 18/02/2022 18:02

BA Paris, Behind Closed Doors - brilliant.
I've just read The Ice Cream Girls, Dorothy Koomsman. Really enjoyed it.
(Funny you say that about 9 Perfect Strangers. My sisters and I love the same books. They hated it. I loved it !!)
Mary Higgins Clarke writes great thrillers. Loves Music Loves To Dance one of my favourites.

sandwiches77 · 18/02/2022 18:06

Ann Cleeves
Peter James
Lesley Pearse
Kathy Reichs (can be gory)

cheeseisthebest · 18/02/2022 18:24

I've read the ice cream girls liked that!

Papergirl1968 · 18/02/2022 18:25

I wasn't wild about Nine Perfect Strangers either.
I 'm reading All My Lies Are True, the sequel to The Ice Cream Girls, @Lemonweightloss and enjoying it more than The Ice Cream Girls.

sandwiches77 · 18/02/2022 18:46

Clare Mackintosh
Robert Galbraith (pen name for JK Rowling)

Lemonweightloss · 18/02/2022 19:56

@Papergirl1968, yes, I'm going to order the sequel. I believe it's very good.

cheeseisthebest · 18/02/2022 20:22

Couple I have just read - Magpie by Elizabeth Day and I let you go by Claire Mackintosh.

I want to read Tall Bones recommend by unmumsy mum next.
These 2 aren’t quite crime thrillers but both have a twist and an interesting plot. Interested to know if anyone else has read these and liked / didn’t like them. Magpie is quite new, I believe she wrote it in lockdown 1.
