Book downer phase

Does anyone else have a phase of every single thing being great followed by a phase of things that although are not bad ( anyone who can write a novel has my admiration!) are not exactly what you want?
I'm in the dreary phase.
I have a very long train journey tomorrow and am really hoping for a recommendation off something riveting as what a treat to read without guilt for several hours!!
What I like- fiction only
So fed up with psychological twists that are not at all surprising.
Have recently read all Claire Keegans books which I loved
Also Mary Beth Keane
I liked such a fun age
I want something contemporary not not the crawdads
Something fun or sad ?

The High House - Jessie Greengrass, Everyone is Still Alive - Cathy Rentzenbrink, Sunset - Jessie Cave, Great Circle - Maggie Shipstead, Sorrow and Bliss - Meg Mason, Unsettled Ground - Claire Fuller, When the Lights Go Out - Carys Bray, The Dutch House - Ann Patchett, The Most Fun We Ever Had - Claire Lombardo. Any good?

I'm in exactly the same stage OP! Can't have got past more than 3 chapters of all my library books recently, just nothing grips me at all and I find myself longing for that feeling where you pick up a book at random, rather inconvenient times just because it's so gripping (haven't read while driving yet but I fear it's only a matter of time)

Have you found something for your train journey?

Yes I have a fondness for dystopian books so I'm reading and enjoying Vox.
I also have A terrible kindness lined up which looks great.
I know that lovely feeling where you go to bed extra early to just read and read!
