Recommendations:Addiction?

Can anyone recommend any books on Addiction? I think I'm looking more for theory based writing than a biography ideally...I'm trying to broaden my knowledge/understanding of addiction for something else I'm writing..appreciate any ideas!

"The biology of desire" by Marc Lewis sounds perfect for what you are after. A very credible look at the neurobiology of addiction, illustrated with real life examples. Highly recommend

Totally not what you asked for really but I’ve recently really enjoyed Amy Liptrot’s ‘The Outrun’ (It’s biography. A lot of it is nature writing. But it does deal with addiction and recovery too.)

Chasing the Scream is highly, highly recommended.
