Recommendations - recent novels

I'm looking for a couple of recent novels to buy for an aunty this Christmas. Ideally fairly recent to make it less likely that she will have them, and absolutely no plotlines about baby or child loss, or dementia.

Anything you'd recommend? Thank you!

Has she read Dear Mrs Bird by A J Pearce? There's a sequel that came out this year - Yours, Cheerfully. They're upbeat, despite being set during WW2. There is a death in the first one, but an adult. Otherwise, I think they're ok.
