Has anyone read this and what did you think?

I don't usually read historical books but wanting to know how the story ends is keeping me going.

Didn't realise places like the foundling actually existed.

I enjoyed it.

The woman that raised Charlotte isn't likeable and as a cold agoraphobic it's surprising that she brought the child up. For how defensive and anxious she is, was also surprised at how easily Bess was able to gain access to the home.

When Bess took the child initially I was wondering why she would take her from such a privileged environment to one of cold, work, and generally a difficult lifestyle.

Love stuff like this easy reading history theme I’m happy.

It was ok, bit far fetched a plot but predictable ending I thought. I doubt real stories had such neat endings.

You can visit the foundling hospital museum in London, it's apparently rather heartbreaking as they display all the tokens of uncollected children Sad(haven't been as dc too small but will do one day)

Real stories never do have tidy endings, yes these stories are predictable but I like them if feeling stressed and fed up as I say easy ready.

I really liked it. I've read all of Stacey halls books and they are all great. I think the familiars was my favourite, then Mrs England then the foundling. But loved them all!

I didn't get into it very easily at first but listened to it on audible and enjoyed it when it got going.

I was up and down with Alexandra, didn't like her then felt sorry for her, then back to not liking her. The warmed to her in the end. She was an interesting character.

The real Foundling hospital must be an interesting but hard place to visit.

I've got The Familiars but haven't got round to reading it yet.

I adored the Familiars. I enjoyed the Foundling too but not as much. Mrs England will be my next read!

It was my bookclub read recently - I thought it was a good read.

By coincidence I visited the Foundling Museum the day before, so made our discussion all the more interesting.

I got choked-up at the display of the little mementoes that the mothers left as a way of identifying their child, should they ever be able to come and reclaim them - things like a piece of cloth, a button Sad
