Was Mr. Darcy blond? I apologise if someone has started a thread about this before. It's frivolous, I know.

Oh God! I hope not!

SawdustandHay · 06/12/2021 14:22

She really doesn’t do much physical description, does she, so I don’t think he is blind unless you want him to be. I feel I would have known if he were.

SawdustandHay · 06/12/2021 14:23

Blond, not blind.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 06/12/2021 14:24

No, Mr Bingley is blond, like Jane Bennet.

Darcy is raven-haired and brooding!

SoftPillow · 06/12/2021 14:38

He's described as being:

"...fine, tall person, handsome features, noble mien'

Obviously post-Colin Firth this could only be dark and brooding.

I do quite like the lack of physical description, it allows you to wander into your own view.

SawdustandHay · 06/12/2021 14:39

Yes, I imagine Jane and Bingley to be fair haired. Wickham and Darcy both dark. Mr Collins I think also has fair hair.

Austen is noted for providing very little physical description, and I've always imagined Darcy to have dark hair.

I'm not even sure Jane is blonde. I think when people are described as "fair," sometimes it refers more to their complexions.
