Feeling like I'm having to wade my way through this one a bit. It's very slow-moving and I'm not even particularly engaged by the characters. Has anyone read it and is there a decent pay off at the end?

It is quite slow, yes. I read it earlier this year. I remember finding it so frustrating, the way the women get treated is so sad. The end came out of nowhere so if you like that sort of thing, keep going. It was quite a shock to me anyway. I gave it 4 out of 5.

Yeah I got half way through and gave up tbh, which is very very rare for me. I found it was just very dragging and parts of the book seemed to totally change from quite adult to very childish to fairytale to dystopia.

It's an odd one for sure
