Book about Dogs

Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations for a book featuring a dog. I would like it to be a happy story for an adult. A close friend has been admitted to hospital for a long stay (it doesn't look good).

I had thought about Marley and Me, but the ending isn't appropriate.

Is there any uplifting easy reads featuring a dog?

The trouble is most true dog stories tend to end with the dog dying :(

I really loved reading ' A Small Dog Saved my Life' by Bel Mooney, its a memoir and it was just really easy reading but quite inspiring and definitely uplifting too.

Sarra Manning - Rescue Me. It's a romantic comedy type book about two people who end up sharing a rescue dog. There's the obligatory sad back story for both of them, but the dog is positive and there's a happy ending!

Harry Pearson’s Hound Dog Days is one of my comfort reads

James Herriot's Dog Stories maybe - I can't remember the details, there may be one or two sad ones but overall positive. Short stories so easier to dip in and out of.

If your friend is a dog lover they may already have it I suppose.
