Has anyone read The Sanitorium?

I’ve just finished it and I have to admit I found that it all completely washed over me. I wasn’t gripped or bothered about it at all, only finished it as it was the last thing left to read on holiday!
But the epilogue confused me totally!
If you’ve read it, was it Isaac, the brother, who was lurking in the background, watching her? Or someone else?

I wasn't a big fan and was also confused by that bit at the end. I've read some things on goodreads where they reckon it was the guy from the case that kept getting mentioned, where she almost drowned, but noone could really explain how they came to that conclusion.

So much about that book baffled me. Elin was possibly the dumbest DI I’ve ever read! Body tied up and found in a pool, and it takes a random hotel employee to state that it looks like a crime scene... honestly so much of it jarred, and it could have had so much potential with the setting etc. I’m still confused over why Daniel was killed off but then nothing for years, and then Laure being involved in the crimes but also a victim. Was the second phone ever explained? After a while I just wanted to finish it and did skim a lot of the tedious running around the hotel bits.
But anyway, the end I was torn over it being Isaac or someone connected to the almost drowning case. I’m presuming the author intends to carry on the series. Not sure I would bother to read any more though.

Ahh. So I’m not the only one confused.
Annoying isn’t it?
I did also skim quite a bit, it was just very disjointed and I found it was quite hard work trying to follow Elin’s (yes, I agree, a character you don’t believe in for a second such is her train wreck thought process) actions.
No idea what the second phone was all about. Not why Daniel was killed and then nothing. I know Cecile did say that she wanted it to be discovered etc but it just all felt a bit nonsensical.
And I thought she looked at the CCTV and decided it was definitely Laure that tried to push her in and she was dead by the end. But the person spying on her in the final pages alluded to themselves being the one who pushed her in Confused
What? Just bored me in the end to be honest, I definitely won’t be reading a sequel!

Oh, and all that time she never remembered it was her with her brother Sam when he died? I know they explained it all away as shock, but still... it was just a very weak guide at throwing Isaac into the spotlight for a bit, making the reader suspect he was the murderer. 🥱

There was another thread on this asking the same questions and no conclusions were reached there either!

So much potential but so poorly executed.
