Author question.

Hi all. I'm an author and I was wondering what your feelings are about authors dropping by to this forum and saying hello and doing a giveaway or what not. Is it allowed? Does it make you feel weird or invaded (I would totally understand!)

I did that once years ago on Nethuns and was deleted as they said it was promoting goods or services: fair enough, it is.

Giveaways can actually cost authors hundreds of pounds on places such as Goodreads, plus the books and mailing costs.

I'd be happy if it was for general book chat, but not blatant self-promotion.
It's a fine line.
