Anyone know this book?!

Basically, in high school I read two books from the series and at the time they were brand new with a third book on its way. So this would have been 15 years ago. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the book nor the author and was hoping someone would know.
In the first book, a boy moves in with relatives, I believe in to a massive mansion (on the hill if I remember right?) and the aunt/woman of the house is awful to him. There is a small pub and a beach in the small town. These are mentioned in the book. The town is very dark and eerie.

The second book is about witches and witch hunts. There's a lady with longer ginger hair. Witches are burnt alive.

I'm so sorry... I don't remember much but I remember I loved the books and by the time the third book had come out I was in 6th form and forgotten about the book.

Thanks

I don't know but thought I'd give the thread a bump as it sounds great!

Thank you! Just to mention as well that these are horror books.

Was it a fiction book? Of it was maybe you will know the cover of the book. I use fantastic fiction. It has any fiction book you can think of. Or try Goodreads? That is a huge site for readers. It has many groups on there, maybe try asking in there.

Good Luck let us know if you find the book.

The Whitby Witches series by Robin Jarvis Jarvis?

Etherealhedgehog · 18/04/2021 02:19

Just one Jarvis! Grin

Just searched for this and think my dd would love these books!

The power of dark seems to be the first of the trilogy.

littlepeas · 23/04/2021 20:28

Oh! Looks like The Power of Dark, etc, are a new trilogy published in 2016.

Etherealhedgehog · 23/04/2021 21:00

How old is your DD? I loved all of Robin Jarvis's books when I was...I think late primary school? The Deptford Mice Trilogy, Deptford Histories and the Whitby Witches. They're pretty dark though, considering the target age!

Etherealhedgehog · 23/04/2021 21:00

@itsjustmepb am I right? Am dying to know!

itsjustmepb · 23/04/2021 21:06

Just google the Whitby Witches and it's not that one :( thank you for your help though! These book would have been published somewhere between 2002-2007 I think... or maybe the first one a little earlier

She’s 11 and loves anything a bit macabre.

Ah ok, a bit after my time. Funny, it sounds so similar!
