Trying to buy less new! I have quite a book habit and I don't have a kindle.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Have a look at World of Books OP. I think they get the surplus charity shop books and usually have a good selection.

The books are in varying conditions and you pay accordingly. I use them a lot especially for crime books that I probably won't reread.

Thank you! I will take a look there Flowers

Abebooks is great

Yes abebooks represents hundreds of secondhand bookshops, and they organise payment in one place. I also look on ebay, loads of the big dealers are on there and you often get discount for multiple purchases.

Oh thanks! Great, I'll look there too then. Really missing browsing for books in the secondhand book shops. God knows when we'll be able to do that again.

Apart from WoB and Abe, there's a seller on eBay called something quite odd, something like Cotswold Library, (I'll check in a mo') they have thousands of second hand books and offer free postage (or did last time I bought from them)

SOLINVICTUS · 12/02/2021 20:30

Yes, that's them TheCotswoldLibrary. About amillion items for sale!

MavisDracula1 · 12/02/2021 21:10

I've used the book depository as well as some of the others mentioned.

abebooks has great choice, but is part of Amazon...

Not a traditional shop, but bookswap.co.uk is brilliant. And it’s a good way to get rid of them too!

Libraries are still doing click&collect during lockdown. From ours you can collect 6 books in your specified genre or pay 95p to request a specific title. Children's requests are free - we currently have a ridiculous number of children's audio's and books but early readers can read a couple a night...
